Asa - Dead Again

Asa will be our personality in view. Her song titled “Dead Again” would be the track that would either be trashed or applauded. As I will always say, my concern here on this blog is not about what kind of song you sing but rather about the message your song is able to pass across and how your lyrics flow into each other. All I would be saying would be based on my view and I would want us all to look at it from our own view then compare it to mine and deduct maybe I have really said something true about the track. The track was released in the year 2014. Let’s consider the lyrics of the songs first. It started with the line “No more you freaking bullshit, no more your joking lies. No more you put me down with your deceptive blue eyes. Wake up and smell the coffee, wake up and take a pill. You think I won’t go on without you, you really think I would fail. You really are a fool, you sentimental fool, and I’ve got to feel sorry for you.” Considering this first verse, we can tell a story
from it. A friend of hers whom she was very close with decided to stab her in the back and she was trying to let her know that no deceit could work on her. She advised her friend that it would be better she realizes that being in the real world and give in to the fact that her bad act had been exposed. She goes on to express her disapproval and regret to the notion that her friend had that only with her could she ever be successful.
Going to the second verse of the track; “No more you playing Jesus, why don’t you pick a name. I thought that you were normal but you were devil insane. I tried to keep you grounded cos it’s no good for my health. But you really can’t save a man from himself. There so much I can say before I turn to pray, all ties with you.” The second verse here discusses her expressing regret and pity towards the friend for trying to be nice even though what her friend is trying to achieve is to bring her down. Asa says here that all she had been doing to make the friendship work was only having negative effect on her and at last she says only a man can take actions to make things better for him.
The chorus of the track speaks thus; “cos what’s going around, you’re talking me down but I found out; so it was, it was really you, you picked up the knife and you cut me in two, you stabbed me in the back and then you twisted it in. You left me for dead again.” She finally says here that despite all your pretense, I have seen you for what you really are. It was you behind every of my fall and you not only did that but made sure that there was no hope for me to get back up.
What’s the full story that this song brings to our mind whenever we listen to it? It’s all about how human will always let you down when you put too much trust in them. How they will treat you like shit just because none of your success story does not have them in it. How broken hearted you will be when you discover that your lover has never from the beginning of your relationship been faithful to you. It breaks the heart to see that people whom we always run to whenever we need a crying shoulder are not really there to help us but instead themselves. The song might be showing how hurt she became to find out that her friend was nothing but a lie. Yet we can still assume that they had good times, and not just good times but times when her friend really watched her back, times when her friend really cared for her and this brings us to the fact that people will always change. Why, When, How, to what and like questions is what we ask each other. So whatever relationship we are in at the moment, why not appreciate and make the best of it now since the table might just turn over tomorrow and we are left alone.
If left for me to decide what sort of a song is this, I would stand up anywhere to say this is a very great song from Asa. This song which really teaches about life, it tells exactly how the heart feels. I have given us an insight on this song, why don’t we take our time to listen to the song once again and then we can tell me if I had a correct interpretation of the song or we have a better one. I would be waiting to hear from you all. Whether I certify this kind of songs, I mean secular music is another story not for here so if you will like to know about that visit here
